LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring David F. Andersen, Ph.D. upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the Rockefeller College Distin-
guished Service Award by the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs &
Policy

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, David F. Andersen, Ph.D. has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor David F.
Andersen, Ph.D. upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Rockefeller College Distinguished Service Award by the Rockefeller
College of Public Affairs & Policy, to be celebrated at its 2015 Alumni
Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 15, 2015, at the New York
State Museum, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy
honors individuals such as David F. Andersen, Ph.D., for their outstand-
ing contributions in the areas of political science, public adminis-
tration, leadership, and continuing professional development; and
WHEREAS, David F. Andersen earned a Bachelor's degree in both Math-
ematics and Social Sciences from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hamp-
shire; he then went on to obtain his Ph.D. degree in Management from the
MIT Sloan School of Management; and
WHEREAS, Currently, David F. Andersen holds the position of Distin-
guished Service Professor of Public Administration and Information
Science at the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy at the
State University of New York at Albany; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Professor David F. Andersen has served as the
Dean of the Graduate School of Public Affairs and Director of the Rocke-
feller Institute of Public Affairs & Policy at the State University of
New York; and
WHEREAS, Professor David F. Andersen is also a founding Fellow at the
Center for Technology in Government, an information systems research and
development center for New York State; and
WHEREAS, Professor David F. Andersen's current work centers on evalu-
ating the cost and performance characteristics of information systems
and decision support systems in the public sector; most recently, he has
focused on the use of formal computer-based tolls and models to help
groups understand the system-wide impacts of information and decision
support systems; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man's consulting and research activities
include assembly and managing research and consulting teams to address a
wide variety of public policy problems with clients in the public and
private sectors; and
WHEREAS, Past President of the System Dynamics Society, Professor
David F. Andersen was the recipient of the esteemed Jay W. Forrester
Prize for the best published work in systems dynamics; he also co-au-
thored INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER SIMULATION: THE SYSTEM DYNAMICS MODELING
APPROACH AND GOVERNMENT INFORMATION MANAGEMENT, as well as over 80 edit-
ed volumes, journal articles, and book chapters dealing with system
dynamics, public policy and management, and information systems; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who have
shown a long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high stand-
ards in their profession, certainly have earned the recognition and

applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor David F. Andersen, Ph.D. upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Rockefeller College Distinguished Service Award by the
Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to David F. Andersen, Ph.D.
