LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Cadet Second Lieutenant Andrew D. Mares-
ca upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the General
Billy Mitchell Award by the Civil Air Patrol

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great
State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate their
lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Cadet Second
Lieutenant Andrew D. Maresca upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the General Billy Mitchell Award by the Civil Air Patrol;
and
WHEREAS, The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the United
States Air Force with over 57,000 members nationwide; it performs 90
percent of continental United States inland search and rescue missions
as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center; and
WHEREAS, The General Billy Mitchell Award is one of the Civil Air
Patrol's most prestigious honors and marks a coming of age for cadets as
they graduate from the cadet enlisted ranks and prepare for greater
leadership as cadet officers; and
WHEREAS, Named after General Billy Mitchell, one of the most important
figures in the history of airpower, it is presented to cadets who have
completed Phase 2 of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program, earning half of
16 achievements; and
WHEREAS, Cadet Second Lieutenant Andrew D. Maresca joined the Civil
Air Patrol in May of 2011; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed young man has met the rigorous requirements in
leadership, physical fitness, character, Aerospace Education, an exam,
and an encampment; and
WHEREAS, Cadet Second Lieutenant Andrew D. Maresca's perseverance in
rising through the ranks of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program is a
strong indication of his ability to master difficult tasks; his accom-
plishments have enabled him to emerge as a leader, fully equipped to
meet the challenges of today's complex society; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cadet Second Lieutenant Andrew D. Maresca upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the General Billy Mitchell Award by the
Civil Air Patrol; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cadet Second Lieutenant Andrew D. Maresca.
