LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Chandler
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the General Ira C.
Eaker Award by the Civil Air Patrol

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great
State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate their
lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Cadet Lieuten-
ant Colonel Joshua Chandler upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the General Ira C. Eaker Award by the Civil Air Patrol; and
WHEREAS, The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the United
States Air Force with over 57,000 members nationwide; it performs 90
percent of continental United States inland search and rescue missions
as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center; and
WHEREAS, The General Ira C. Eaker Award is one of the Civil Air
Patrol's most prized honors and is presented to cadets who have demon-
strated excellence in leadership, character, fitness, and Aerospace
Education; it marks the successful completion of all 16 achievements in
the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program; and
WHEREAS, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Chandler, through his dili-
gence and rigorous efforts, has completed the highest level of achieve-
ment in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program and consequently has been
designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed young man is one of only 20 cadets nationwide
to receive this prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Chandler joined the Civil Air
Patrol Cadet Program in December 2006 and currently serves as the Cadet
Deputy Commander of his Cadet Squadron; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Chandler is also
enlisted in the Marines Reserve, where he presently is working in
aircraft maintenance and ammunitions; and
WHEREAS, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Chandler's perseverance in
rising through the ranks of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program is a
strong indication of his ability to master difficult tasks; his accom-
plishments have enabled him to emerge as a leader, fully equipped to
meet the challenges of today's complex society; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Chandler upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the General Ira C. Eaker Award by the Civil
Air Patrol; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Chandler.
