LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Eileen Delgado upon the occasion
of her induction into the Fontbonne Academy Hall of Fame on May 6, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this great
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Eileen Delgado upon the occasion of her induction into the Font-
bonne Academy Hall of Fame, to be celebrated at its Fleur de Lys Dinner
Dance, on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Gargiulo's Restaurant, Brooklyn,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Fontbonne Hall Academy, an all-girls, private, Roman Catholic
high school in Brooklyn, New York, was established in 1937, by the
Sisters of St. Joseph, and is located within the Roman Catholic Diocese
of Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Delgado is a 1963 graduate of Fontbonne Hall Academy;
while a student at the Academy, she was a member of many clubs and
activities, including the Propagation of the Faith Society, the Legion
of Mary, the Glee Club, the orchestra, and the Boosters; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Eileen Delgado held various leadership posi-
tions, such as Captain of the Boosters, Class Treasurer her freshman
year and Class Vice-President her sophomore year, as well as President
of the Student Service League (SSL) her senior year; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduating, Eileen Delgado earned both her Bachelor's
and Master's degrees in Education from Brooklyn College; she then
furthered her education by obtaining a second Master's degree in Educa-
tional Administration and Supervision from Pace University; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Delgado began her career as an Educator as a second
grade Teacher in Public School (P.S.) 396 in Brooklyn; she then was
employed as a Teacher of English as a Second Language in Dewey Junior
High School in Brooklyn, for five years; and
WHEREAS, After her maternity leave, Eileen Delgado taught Spanish and
French at Stranahan Junior High School 142 in Brooklyn; she then held
various positions in the New York City Board of Education, including
Director of Personnel, Director of Recruitment, and Deputy Director of
the Office of Appeals and Reviews; and
WHEREAS, In 2000, Eileen Delgado retired from New York City Schools;
however, one year later, she became a Consultant for the New York City
Department of Education; and
WHEREAS, In 2005, Eileen Delgado brought her linguistic skills over-
seas to teach French at the Caribbean International Academy in Sint
Maarten, Netherlands Antilles; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her role as an educator, Eileen Delgado was a
member of the Height Players, Inc. in Brooklyn from 1973-1993, perform-
ing as an actress, singer, and dancer; for the next 10 years, she served
as Choreographer for that same group; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Delgado was also an actress on the soap opera, AS THE
WORLD TURNS, in addition to being seen in several television commer-
cials; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Delgado has remained connected to Fontbonne Hall Acad-
emy; she was part of a group which planned their 50th Class Reunion, and
was a vital member of the Annual Golf, Tennis and Pool Outing Committee;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Eileen Delgado upon the occasion of her induction into the
Fontbonne Academy Hall of Fame on May 6, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Eileen Delgado.
