LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Katherine FitzGerald Mulligan upon
the occasion of her induction into the Fontbonne Academy Hall of Fame on
May 6, 2015
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Katherine FitzGerald Mulligan upon the occasion of her induction
into the Fontbonne Academy Hall of Fame, to be celebrated at its Fleur
de Lys Dinner Dance, on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Gargiulo's Restau-
rant, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Fontbonne Hall Academy, an all-girls, private, Roman Catholic
high school in Brooklyn, New York, was established in 1937, by the
Sisters of St. Joseph, and is located within the Roman Catholic Diocese
of Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Katherine FitzGerald Mulligan is a 1976 graduate of Fontbonne
Hall Academy; while a student at the Academy, she was a member of many
extra-curricular activities, including the Spanish Club and Insight; she
also participated in Sports Night for all four years, and was inducted
into the National Honor Society during her junior year; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Katherine FitzGerald Mulligan held various lead-
ership positions, such as Captain of the Swim Team, as well as several
positions for the Student Activities Council (SAC); and
WHEREAS, Upon graduating, Katherine FitzGerald Mulligan received an
Associate's degree in Applied Science from Northeastern University,
Boston, and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene and
Education from the University of Missouri, Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, After completing college, Katherine FitzGerald Mulligan relo-
cated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and taught at the University of
Pennsylvania for six years; during this time, she obtained a Master's
degree in Health Administration from Saint Joseph's University, Phila-
delphia; and
WHEREAS, For 15 years, Katherine FitzGerald Mulligan was employed in
Professional Relations at Cigna and Aetna Insurance Companies; today,
she holds the esteemed position of Director at DentaQuest, an organiza-
tion established to improve the oral health of all, especially the
under-served; and
WHEREAS, Katherine FitzGerald Mulligan has remained connected to Font-
bonne Hall Academy; she has attended numerous reunions and was also
instrumental in helping to honor one of her classmates; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Joseph, and her
three children, Thomas, Brendan, and Sheila, all of whom feel privileged
to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Katherine FitzGerald Mulligan upon the occasion of her
induction into the Fontbonne Academy Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Katherine FitzGerald Mulligan.
