LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Glenn Kleveno upon the occasion of
his induction into the 2014 Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward
Institute
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Glenn Kleveno upon the occasion of his induction into the 2014
Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward Institute, which was celebrated
at its Induction Ceremony on September 27, 2014; and
WHEREAS, An important figure in the history of the SS Seward Institute
Athletics Program, Glenn Kleveno, Class of 1968, had an outstanding high
school athletic career, as well as an impressive coaching career with
both the Spartans and the Lady Spartans; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Kleveno was recognized for his superb athletic ability;
he played varsity soccer for four years, varsity basketball for two
years, and baseball for one year; and
WHEREAS, A mainstay on his varsity soccer team, Glenn Kleveno was
instrumental in helping his team win the Orange County (OC) Championship
in 1964 and 1967; and
WHEREAS, In addition, as a member of the varsity baseball team, Glenn
Kleveno helped him and his team capture the OC Championship in 1968; and
WHEREAS, After a semester at OCCC, Glenn Kleveno embarked on a career
with the United States Postal Service; he recently retired after 32
years of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, Glenn Kleveno began his illustrious coaching career
at the SS Seward Institute; he spent three years coaching the Girls
Junior Varsity Basketball Team earning a 40-11 record, and seven years
with the Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team with an 84-44 record; in
his last eight years of coaching Boys Junior Varsity Soccer, the team
amassed a 100-74 team record; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Kleveno has served proudly as a voluntary assistant on
approximately 12 teams, primarily soccer and basketball; in 2003, he
helped the Spartan Basketball Team win the New York State Class D Cham-
pionship; and
WHEREAS, Today, Glenn Kleveno of Florida, New York, works part-time at
the Seward Middle/High School serving in various capacities; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Susan, and their two
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Athletes and coaches such as Glenn Kleveno provide a tremen-
dous service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring gener-
ations of student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their
success in their future years; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Kleveno has clearly been an inspiration to the youth of
the SS Seward Institute, as well as to the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive dedi-
cation to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our students
and our schools; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Glenn Kleveno upon the occasion of his induction into the
2014 Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward Institute; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Glenn Kleveno.
