LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mark Brogna upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the John J. Wagner Award by the Lark Street
Business Improvement District
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and
support the entrepreneurs of small businesses whose dedication and
accomplishments contribute to the economic health and vitality of the
communities they serve in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mark
Brogna upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Inaugur-
al John J. Wagner Award by the Lark Street Business Improvement District
to be celebrated at its Annual Champagne on the Park event on Thursday,
May 7, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Lark Street is the vibrant heart of Albany, the Capital of
New York State; across the 10 blocks of the Lark Street Business
Improvement District, many unique and exciting businesses line the
street offering "one of a kind" experiences for residents and visitors
alike; and
WHEREAS, Champagne on the Park is an annual event which supports the
year-round efforts of the Lark Street Business Improvement District to
continue the development and sustainability of this unique neighborhood
through such programs as neighborhood safety and marketing, maintenance
and beautification, and special events and promotions; and
WHEREAS, The John J. Wagner Award is named after the remarkable found-
er of the Waldorf Tuxedo Company and creator of the Lark Street
Merchants Association and Larkfest; it is being given to a Lark Street
business owner who helps fulfill the BID's mission of making the street
a vibrant area to live, work and play; and
WHEREAS, Mark Brogna of Capital Wine and Spirits is a well-respected
business owner who continually donates his time and resources to impor-
tant causes in his community; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Mark Brogna has served in numerous capacities on the Lark
Street BID Board of Directors, as well as on numerous other community
organizations; in addition, he has never missed a neighborhood clean-up
event; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Mark Brogna has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those small
business owners who enhance the well-being and vitality of their commu-
nity and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mark Brogna upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the John J. Wagner Award by the Lark Street Business Improvement
District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mark Brogna.
