LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending outgoing President Irene V. Villacci,
JD, upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Women's Bar Association of the State of New York
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great
State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those civic-minded individuals who dedicate their lives and careers
to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
outgoing President Irene V. Villacci, JD, upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Women's Bar Association of
the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1986, Irene V. Villacci graduated from Molloy College,
Rockville Centre, New York; three years later, she received her Juris
Doctor degree from Hofstra University of Law, Hempstead, New York, and
was admitted as an Attorney in New York State in 1990; and
WHEREAS, Since 1990, Irene V. Villacci's practice has concentrated in
the areas of elder law, estate planning, probate and estates adminis-
tration, wills, trusts and estates, Medicaid applications, guardian-
ships, health care proxies, living wills and powers of attorney; and
WHEREAS, A member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys since
1994, Irene V. Villacci was Certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the
National Elder Law Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Irene V. Villacci was the Senior Associate Attorney at Feld-
man, Kramer & Monaco, PC, for 15 years, in their Elder Law, Trusts and
Estates Department; in addition, she is certified to be a court-appoint-
ed Court Evaluator, Guardian ad Litem, Counsel to Guardians, and Referee
in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties; and
WHEREAS, In 2006, Irene V. Villacci was admitted to the United States
Supreme Court, and seven years later, she was named one of New York's
Super Lawyers, with her recognition noted in SUPER LAWYERS magazine and
THE NEW YORK TIMES; and
WHEREAS, The law office of Irene V. Villacci, Attorney-at-Law, PLLC,
was established in February of 2007, in Rockville Centre, Long Island,
New York; and
WHEREAS, A proponent for pro bono services and public interest law,
Irene V. Villacci is a past Chairperson of the Nassau-Suffolk Law
Services Advisory Council, and has been a member of the Advisory Council
since 2000; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Irene V. Villacci serves as a member of several
associations including the Lawyers' Committee of the Long Island
Alzheimer's Association; the New York State Bar Association's Elder Law
Section, Trusts and Estates Section, Real Property Section, and General
Practice Section; as well as the Elder Law Committee and Surrogate's
Court Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman has held numerous leadership positions
such as Secretary to the Executive Committee of the General Practice
Section of the New York State Bar Association, and Village Trustee of
the Incorporated Village of East Rockaway; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure as Village Trustee, Irene V. Villacci
served as Liaison to several active committees and Boards, including the
Library Board, the Labor Negotiations Committee, and the Ethics Board,
and was a member of the Village Foundation of East Rockaway; and
WHEREAS, Today, Irene V. Villacci continues to be active in her commu-
nity, serving as an Officer of the East Rockaway Education Foundation,
and a member of the East Rockaway Kiwanis; she also volunteers in many
activities at her church; and
WHEREAS, Prior to becoming President-Elect of the Women's Bar Associ-
ation of the State of New York (WBASNY), Irene V. Villacci held the
title of Vice President for two years and Corresponding Secretary; she
is a Past-President of the Nassau County Women's Bar Association and was
selected as a Delegate for her chapter to WBASNY; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Irene V. Villacci is a founding co-Chairperson of
the Pro Bono Clinic established by the Nassau County Women's Bar Associ-
ation; and
WHEREAS, Irene V. Villacci has been the recipient of numerous awards
and accolades for her work with the community and the Bar Association,
including the Virginia C. Duncombe Award from the Nassau County Women's
Bar Association, and was recognized by the Nassau County Legislature as
a Woman of Distinction/Trailblazer of the New Millennium; most recently,
she was bestowed the honor of Distinguished Alumna by the Board of Trus-
tees of her alma mater; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend outgoing President Irene V. Villacci, JD, upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the Women's Bar Association
of the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Irene V. Villacci.
