LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Los Taxes and
paying tribute to Founder/CEO Javier N. Solis

WHEREAS, Service to community is the foundation of our society, and the
contributions and future efforts of those in service to it are a vital
part of, and valuable asset to, the fabric of our communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to celebrate the 25th
Anniversary of Los Taxes and to pay tribute to Founder/CEO Javier N.
Solis; and
WHEREAS, As Founder/CEO, Javier N. Solis oversees 50 tax centers in 10
states, largely serving the Latino communities, including its corporate
headquarters in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, New York, where his national
network of tax centers was founded; and
WHEREAS, Celebrating its 25th year of service, Los Taxes provides
honest and reliable income tax preparation service to the Latino commu-
nity in a culturally sensitive office environment where taxpayers can
find financial assistance in their language and culture offered by
trained tax practitioners whose integrity and respect to system regu-
lations are above all; and
WHEREAS, Upon arriving in the United States of America in 1989, Javier
N. Solis quickly familiarized himself with tax preparation publications
and assisted family members with their income tax returns; and
WHEREAS, To advance his education, Javier N. Solis enrolled in the
accounting program at the City University of New York; while studying,
he also prepared taxes out of his apartment; and
WHEREAS, Soon after Javier N. Solis opened his first office in Brook-
lyn, New York, in 2002, he realized his home community was largely
underserved and made it his mission to assist Latino immigrants who were
trying to navigate a new and different taxation system, many of whom
were lost and needed guidance; and
WHEREAS, With his mission established, Javier N. Solis set out to
educate and inform the Latino community through television, newspapers
and radio outlets about financial issues involving taxation, credit
repair, homeownership, mortgages, bankruptcy, investments and retirement
planning; and
WHEREAS, Javier N. Solis and his work to protect consumers soon gained
the attention of the New York City Clergy Association for Justice and
its 500 churches, where his outreach efforts spread to monthly meetings
and special events before pastors, ministers and church members; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Los Taxes and to pay tribute to
Founder/CEO Javier N. Solis; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Javier N. Solis, Founder/CEO, Los Taxes.
