LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sharon and Usher Fogel upon the occasion
of their designation as the recipients of the Harrison Kerr Community
Achievement Award by the Jewish Community Center of the Greater Five
Towns

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Sharon and Usher Fogel have given not only of their time and
energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sharon and
Usher Fogel upon the occasion of their designation as the recipients of
the Harrison Kerr Community Achievement Award by the Jewish Community
Center of the Greater Five Towns, to be celebrated at its 13th Annual
Dinner on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at The Sephardic Temple, Cedarhurst,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The Jewish Community Center (JCC) of the Greater Five Towns
was established in 1980, serving 16,000 individuals each year at 18
different sites throughout the Five Towns area; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization offers programs for senior citizens,
infants, and people of all ages and abilities, as well as those with
special needs; and
WHEREAS, Sharon and Usher Fogel have been called upon to contribute
their time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable couple has been involved with the JCC of the
Greater Five Towns for more than two years; committed to their communi-
ty, Sharon and Usher Fogel are members of several organizations, includ-
ing The Shalom Task Force, Young Israel of Woodmere, and YOM Ha'Shoah at
Congregation Beth Sholom in Lawrence, New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Sharon and Usher Fogel have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Sharon and Usher Fogel have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sharon and Usher Fogel upon the occasion of their designation as
the recipients of the Harrison Kerr Community Achievement Award by the
Jewish Community Center of the Greater Five Towns; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sharon and Usher Fogel.
