LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring May Wang upon the occasion of being
named an Outstanding Student by the Capital District YMCA on May 14,
2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor May
Wang upon the occasion of being named an Outstanding Student by the
Capital District YMCA to be celebrated at its 10th Annual Student and
Educator Awards Breakfast Reception, on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at the
Sarazen Student Union, Siena College, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, This commendation honors high school students and educators
for their dedication to service in their schools, community, and local
YMCA; and
WHEREAS, May Wang is currently a senior at Colonie Central High
School; this exceptional young woman is extremely dedicated in giving
back to both her school and her community; and
WHEREAS, In her school, May Wang has held numerous leadership posi-
tions including Secretary of the Invisible Children's Club and Vice-Pre-
sident of iCare; in addition she is a member of the National Honor Soci-
ety and the award winning Robotics Team; and
WHEREAS, An exceptional student, May Wang has undertaken a very rigor-
ous schedule, which includes five Advanced Placement courses, as well as
accelerated classes in math, English, science, and foreign language; and
WHEREAS, May Wang has been the recipient of numerous awards and acco-
lades including a National Merit Commended Scholar, an Academic All-Am-
erican Award from United States Lacrosse, and was chosen to be the
Representative from her school at Empire Girls State; and
WHEREAS, With a sense of civic duty and her commitment to others, May
Wang represents the best development of the potential which is inherent
in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish May Wang continued success throughout her school years and
beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor May Wang upon the occasion of being named an Outstanding Student
by the Capital District YMCA on May 14, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to May Wang.
