LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Chautauqua
Opportunities, Inc.
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and
acknowledge certain exemplary organizations that continue to provide
superior services and support for residents, and through their work have
become a beacon of hope, opportunity and prosperity within the communi-
ty; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. is a not-for-profit agency
that has served the low income population of Chautauqua County since
1965; the agency works in the areas of Housing and Community Develop-
ment, Health Services, Early Education and Youth Services and the Chau-
tauqua Child Care Council; and
WHEREAS, The organization has as its mission fighting the war against
poverty by empowering low income individuals and stabilizing the vulner-
able among us; those who serve the organization believe that all have
the right to achieve success and strive to create economic opportunities
that afford individuals a ladder out of poverty and improved the overall
wellbeing; and
WHEREAS, For the past several years, Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc.
has been developing services geared toward self-sufficiency and economic
security; tracking positive outcomes for customers through the Self-Suf-
ficiency Continuum to evaluate then measure progress of customers in 26
life domains; and
WHEREAS, In 2004, Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. implemented a
centralized intake system, which links eligible households with services
and community resources and focuses on customer outcomes and account-
ability; and
WHEREAS, Chautauqua Opportunities uses a central intake system where
staff, known as navigators, compile an initial risk assessment and gath-
er information to determine eligibility for services; navigators then
assist those in need in identifying goals towards self-reliance, commu-
nity interrelatedness and economic security; and
WHEREAS, Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. added a Multi-Disciplinary
Team (MDT) to their services in 2007 to ensure that a team of profes-
sionals and paraprofessionals convene on a regular basis to determine
the appropriate level and type of case management services each customer
receives; and
WHEREAS, The organization has for many years provided quality services
and support for residents of Chautauqua County and will continue to do
so for many years; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those organizations that have achieved notable success and have
contributed to the betterment of the residents of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc.; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc.
