LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the University at Albany Asian Ameri-
can Alliance upon the successful hosting of its 2014 Asian Occasion

WHEREAS, A great state is only as great as those organizations that
perform exemplary service on behalf of their community, whether through
unique achievement in professional or other endeavors, or simply through
a lifetime of good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the University at Albany Asian American Alliance upon the successful
hosting of its 2014 Asian Occasion which was celebrated on Saturday,
November 22, 2014, at the Egg Convention Center, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The University at Albany's Asian American Alliance is a
social, cultural, and political organization which serves as a coordina-
tor for the five Asian undergraduate organizations on campus: the
Chinese Student Association, Albany State Indian Alliance, Japanese
Student Association, Korean Student Association and Liga Filipina; and
WHEREAS, Asian Occasion, also known as AO, is the Asian American Alli-
ance's biggest event of the fall semester; and
WHEREAS, During Asian Occasion, the Asian American Alliance's member
groups present traditional and modern dances, as well as a fashion show
with clothing representative of East, South and Southeast Asia; and
WHEREAS, Students participating in this event have been practicing for
some time, and often rehearse late at night; and
WHEREAS, Numerous other groups on campus participate in this marvelous
celebration, demonstrating that the students at the University at Albany
show an interest in all cultures and the amazing diversity that exists
on campus; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when associ-
ations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the University at Albany Asian American Alliance upon the
successful hosting of its 2014 Asian Occasion; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Juliet Shen, President of the University at Albany's Asian
American Alliance.
