LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Naomi Hanson upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the
Orange-Ulster BOCES on May 1, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Naomi Hanson
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES celebrated at its Second
Annual Awards Breakfast, on May 1, 2015, at Kuhl's Highland House,
Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Naomi Hanson has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A Senior at Warwick Valley High School, Warwick, New York,
Naomi Hanson has plans to major in History with a minor in Theater at
either the State University of New York at Geneseo, or Ithaca College,
after graduating; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding vocalist, Naomi Hanson actively participates
in many school choral groups; she holds the position of President of
Meistersingers Honors Choir, and has participated in the All-County
Chorus, and Area All-State Chorus, as well as an alternate for All-State
Chorus for the 2014-2015 school year; and
WHEREAS, Naomi Hanson is a vital member of the Drama Club, serving as
its Vice-President; she has been a part of every show produced during
her four years of high school, playing many lead roles; and
WHEREAS, In her spare time, Naomi Hanson is an avid hula hooper; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Naomi Hanson
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Naomi Hanson may stand with pride in her achievements, expe-
riencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues
her education; and
WHEREAS, Naomi Hanson represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Naomi Hanson upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Naomi Hanson.
