LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Molly Siegel upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the
Orange-Ulster BOCES on May 1, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Molly Siegel
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES celebrated at its Second
Annual Awards Breakfast, on May 1, 2015, at Kuhl's Highland House,
Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Molly Siegel has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A Senior at Middletown High School, Middletown, New York,
Molly Siegel has plans to major in Music Education at the Crane School
of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam, after graduat-
ing; in addition, she is a member of the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, A multi-talented musician, Molly Siegel actively participates
in many school music groups; she is a vital member of the Marching
Middies, Percussion Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, and Women's Chorale, as
well as the Chamber Singers; and
WHEREAS, Molly Siegel also serves as the Secretary of both the Band
and Jazz Band Council, the French Horn Section Leader in the Wind Ensem-
ble and the Concert Band, and the Trumpet Section Leader in the Jazz
Band; and
WHEREAS, Molly Siegel has also participated in All-County, the Area
All-State Symphonic Orchestra, and the American String Teachers' Associ-
ation's 2014 National High School Honors Orchestra in Louisville,
Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Molly Siegel
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Molly Siegel may stand with pride in her achievements, expe-
riencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she continues
her education; and
WHEREAS, Molly Siegel represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Molly Siegel upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Molly Siegel.
