LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Cassandra Rodriguez upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by
the Orange-Ulster BOCES on May 1, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Cassandra
Rodriguez upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES celebrated at
its Second Annual Awards Breakfast, on May 1, 2015, at Kuhl's Highland
House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Cassandra Rodriguez has distinguished herself as a young
woman of superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing stand-
ards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and respon-
sibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A Senior at S.S. Seward Institute, Florida, New York, Cassan-
dra Rodriguez has plans to major in Occupational Therapy at the State
University of New York at Stony Brook, after graduating; she hopes to
become an Early-Development Occupational Therapist within the next five
years; and
WHEREAS, In her school, Cassandra Rodriguez serves as the President of
the Youth Ending Hunger Club, and Vice President of the Spanish Club; in
addition, she is a member of the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, Known as a kind and compassionate young woman, Cassandra
Rodriguez volunteers her time by assisting in the Special Education
classroom in her school and tutoring her fellow classmates; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Cassandra Rodriguez traveled to Haiti to help
children in an orphanage, and also went to the Dominican Republic with a
group of doctors to provide free medical care to its citizens; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Cassandra
Rodriguez has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Cassandra Rodriguez may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Cassandra Rodriguez represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cassandra Rodriguez upon the occasion of her designation as recip-
ient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES,
and to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cassandra Rodriguez.
