LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Major Christopher F. Cincio, Canadian
Army Reserves, upon the occasion of being selected as Honorary Grand
Marshal of the Lansingburgh Memorial Day Parade, May 25, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those distinguished citizens who devote their time and ener-
gies to the service of their community and profession, participating in
civic affairs and enhancing the character and quality of life for all
citizens; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Major Christopher F. Cincio, Canadian Army Reserves, upon the occasion
of being selected as Honorary Grand Marshal of Lansingburgh's 19th Annu-
al Memorial Day Parade to be held on Monday, May 25, 2015; and
WHEREAS, On Memorial Day, observed annually on the last Monday of the
month of May, we honor those Americans who gave their lives in defense
of their country, whether in the Civil War which divided our nation,
international conflicts such as the World Wars, or in peacetime service
to uphold the cherished principles of liberty and democracy upon which
our grand Republic was founded; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Honorary Grand Marshal of the Lansing-
burgh Memorial Day Parade is Major Christopher F. Cincio, Canadian Army
Reserves; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario, Major Christopher
F. Cincio currently resides in Welland, Ontario, with his two children
Paige and Michael; and
WHEREAS, In 1981, Christopher F. Cincio joined the Lincoln and Welland
Regiment, Canadian Army Reserve as an Infantryman; as a junior NCO, he
specialized in machine guns, armored defense, small arms and recon; and
WHEREAS, Major Christopher F. Cincio was named Top Gunner on his Anti-
Tank Gunner's course in 1983, and spent a number of years as a member of
the Central Militia Area Small Arms Team, a result of which has been a
number of shooting awards, culminating as the Champion Pistol Shot in
Canada at the Canadian Forces Small Arms Competition in 1985; and
WHEREAS, That same year, he was also designated as the "Top Tyro"
(Rookie shooter) during Sniper matches at the same competition; further-
more, he is a five-time Ontario Rifle Association Pistol and Sub-Machine
Gun shooting Champion; and
WHEREAS, Major Christopher F. Cincio is a pathfinder trained recon-
naissance patrolman and was one of the original members of the re-es-
tablished battalion recon platoon in 1987; in 1990, he was transferred
to Battalion Operations as the OPS and Training SGT; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, Major Christopher F. Cincio returned to the Recon
Platoon as the Platoon Second in command; the following year, he was
transferred back to the Line Infantry Companies where he had the oppor-
tunity to hone his skills as an infantry NCO during a number of chal-
lenging exercises and deployments; and
WHEREAS, Major Christopher F. Cincio held positions such as a Company
Sergeant-Major and Drill Sergeant-Major; he assumed the duties of the
Regimental Sergeant-Major of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment in October
2000 until his retirement in October of 2004; and
WHEREAS, Major Christopher F. Cincio was commissioned from the ranks
shortly after his very brief retirement and, as a result, held positions
of Infantry Company Commander, Battalion Operations Officer, and Plans
Officer and is currently the Deputy Commanding Officer of the Lincoln
and Welland Regiment; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Brock University, Major Christopher F. Cincio
holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and
Information Processing; furthermore, he is a graduate of the Canadian
Army Command and Staff College; and
WHEREAS, In civilian life, he is a member of the Niagara Regional
Police Service where he currently holds the rank of Inspector, where he
oversees regional operations and deploys operationally as a Tactical
Incident Commander; and
WHEREAS, Major Christopher F. Cincio is also a member of the Royal
Canadian Legion, NTOA, AOPA and FBI LEEDA; in his free time, he is a
master scuba diver and a recreational aeroplane pilot; and
WHEREAS, Since 1998, Major Christopher F. Cincio has both attended and
participated in the Lansingburgh Memorial Day Parade and is a life
member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh; and
WHEREAS, As we observe and remember our deceased veterans on Memorial
Day, we recall their brave and noble deeds as well as their sacrifices
which have served to maintain our most precious and cherished freedoms
and honor those who continue to work diligently to support and sustain
them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Major Christopher F. Cincio, Canadian Army Reserves, upon the
occasion of being selected as Honorary Grand Marshal of the Lansingburgh
Memorial Day Parade, May 25, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Major Christopher F. Cincio.
