LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Centro Civico and Capital District 100
Hispanic Women upon the occasion of holding the Magic of the Holidays
event on December 17, 2014

WHEREAS, A great state is only as great as those organizations that
perform exemplary service on behalf of their community, whether through
unique achievement in professional or other endeavors, or simply through
a lifetime of good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Centro Civico and Capital District 100 Hispanic Women upon the occasion
of holding the Magic of the Holidays event on December 17, 2014, at
Glennpeter Jewelers, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Three Kings Day, the day in which the Three Kings came to
visit Jesus Christ shortly after his birth, is celebrated throughout
Latin America, and is a national holiday in many Latin American coun-
tries; and
WHEREAS, For several years, Centro Civico has given toys to children
whose parents are of limited economic means in honor of Three Kings Day;
and
WHEREAS, In an effort to help even more Latino children in the area,
Capital District 100 Hispanic Women has joined Centro Civico for Magic
of the Holidays, an event held at Glennpeter Jewelers Diamond Centre,
which generously provided space; and
WHEREAS, Numerous other area Latino organizations have joined this
event, including the Capital District Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the
Albany Network of Hispanic Service Providers, the Schenectady Hispanic
Heritage Committee and Mambo Dragons Afro-Caribbean Jazz Ensemble; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Centro Civico and Capital District 100 Hispanic Women upon the
occasion of holding the Magic of the Holidays event; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Centro Civico and Capital District 100 Hispanic Women.
