LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Aixa Toledo upon the occasion of
being named the 2014 Woman on the Move by the Arthritis Foundation of
Northeastern New York

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Aixa Toledo has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Aixa Tole-
do upon the occasion of being named the 2014 Woman on the Move by the
Arthritis Foundation of Northeastern New York; this momentous occasion
was celebrated with a Cocktail Reception on Thursday, October 16, 2014,
at Prime at Saratoga National, Saratoga Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Annual Women on the Move celebration honors women of
achievement who are role models in their professional, philanthropic and
individual endeavors; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, Aixa
Toledo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology; upon her gradu-
ation, she became Board Certified in Medical Technology and worked in
one of Puerto Rico's main hospitals; and
WHEREAS, Aixa Toledo went on to obtain her Medical degree at the
University Autonoma de Guadalajara, and her Fifth Pathway Training at
New York Medical College; she completed her Residency in Internal Medi-
cine as well as her fellowship training in Rheumatology at Albany
Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, Dr.
Aixa Toledo is a member of the American College of Physicians and the
American College of Rheumatology; she has participated in clinical
research in Rheumatology, and has greatly contributed to the writing of
several medical publications; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Aixa Toledo has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of her community, Dr. Aixa Tole-
do has volunteered in the provision of health education to the Capital
District Latino community, and provided medical care to the medically
underserved residents of Albany, New York during a charity clinic; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. Aixa Toledo has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Aixa Toledo upon the occasion of being named the 2014 Woman on
the Move by the Arthritis Foundation of Northeastern New York on October
16, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Aixa Toledo.
