LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Herricks High School Student Coun-
cil upon the occasion of being designated a 2015 National Gold Council
of Excellence by the National Association of Student Councils
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Herricks High School Student Council have
distinguished themselves as young men and women of superlative ability,
establishing a high standard of academic excellence, purposefulness of
life and sense of responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Herricks High School's Student Council upon the occasion of being desig-
nated a 2015 National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Associ-
ation of Student Councils; and
WHEREAS, Herricks High School Student Council has been selected for
this auspicious honor in recognition of its exemplary record of leader-
ship, service and activities which serve to improve the school and
community; and
WHEREAS, Receiving the National Association of Student Councils (NASC)
National Gold Council of Excellence Award reflects the highest dedi-
cation on the part of the school to providing a strong, well-rounded
student council program; and
WHEREAS, NASC applauds the work of Herricks High School Student Coun-
cil and challenges them to continue their leadership and service to
their school and community; and
WHEREAS, To meet the requirements of the NASC National Council of
Excellence Award, a student council must meet a variety of criteria; and
WHEREAS, In addition to basic requirements such as a written constitu-
tion, regular meetings, a democratic election process, and membership in
NASC, Herricks High School Student Council demonstrates such things as
leadership training for council members, teacher/staff appreciation
activities, student recognition programs, school and community service
projects, spirit activities, goal setting, financial planning, and
active participation in state and national student council associations;
and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, these
students now stand honorably, with just pride in their accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by their teachers and
parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Herricks High School Student Council upon the occasion of
being designated a 2015 National Gold Council of Excellence by the
National Association of Student Councils; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Herricks High School Student Council.
