LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Former Captain Keith C. Bunnell upon
the occasion of his designation for special recognition after 40 years
of dedicated service to the Williston Park Fire Department
WHEREAS, The firefighters of New York State are renowned throughout the
Nation; their reputation is synonymous with excellence in the arduous
field of fire protection and prevention; and
WHEREAS, Since the early days of "teapot steamers," the volunteer
firefighter has been the cornerstone of our great Nation's efforts to
spare us from the ravages of fire; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Former
Captain Keith C. Bunnell upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition after 40 years of dedicated service to the Williston
Park Fire Department, to be celebrated at its 88th Annual Inspection and
Installation Dinner Dance on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the Long Island
Marriott, Uniondale, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Williston Park Fire Department is a volunteer organiza-
tion established in 1927, for the purpose of preventing and extinguish-
ing fires, and protecting life and property; and
WHEREAS, The dedicated firefighters of the Williston Park Fire Depart-
ment proudly protect the residents and visitors of its village of Willi-
ston Park, New York; with over 7,500 people, and 2,641 housing units,
and some 300 businesses in an area of .7 square miles, its population
density rivals or exceeds some of the major cities in the State of New
York; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer firefighters and fire departments not only provide
the critical service of fire protection but also engage in other activ-
ities of great benefit and importance to the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Keith C. Bunnell joined the Williston Park Fire Department in
1974, becoming a member of the Hose & Salvage Company Three; throughout
his tenure, he held several leadership roles, including Lieutenant and
Captain; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Keith C. Bunnell has served in numerous adminis-
trative positions for Company Three, including Treasurer, Vice Presi-
dent, and President; he also held the title of Warden on the Williston
Park Fire Department's Fire Council, functioning as Secretary; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Keith C. Bunnell serves the community of Williston
Park as the Superintendent of Public Works; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; Former
Captain Keith C. Bunnell is such a firefighter; throughout 40 years of
devoted service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond
the call of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire
protection; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Former Captain Keith C. Bunnell upon the occasion of his desig-
nation for special recognition after 40 years of dedicated service to
the Williston Park Fire Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Former Captain Keith C. Bunnell.
