LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Haley Zurawel upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Outstanding 4-H Member Award by the 4-H
Club Program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene
Counties

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accordance
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Haley Zurawel upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Outstanding 4-H Member Award by the 4-H Club Program of Cornell Cooper-
ative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties; and
WHEREAS, The 4-H Club is the nation's largest youth development and
empowerment organization, reaching more than seven million young people
in urban neighborhoods, suburban schoolyards and rural farming communi-
ties; fueled by a university-backed curriculum, 4-H'ers engage in hands-
on learning activities in the areas of science, healthy living, and food
security; and
WHEREAS, The New York State 4-H seeks to foster the development of
leadership ability, life skills, and good citizenship in its young men
and women; it is the only youth development program directly connected
to technological advances and the latest research at Cornell University;
and
WHEREAS, Haley Zurawel, the daughter of Thomas and Jessie Zurawel, has
been a member of the Bananas 4-H Club, Earlton, New York, for three
years; a resident of the Town of Coxsackie, she graduated from Roundout
Valley High School; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional young woman has shown a strong interest in
attempting to participate in everything 4-H has to offer; her enthusiasm
is contagious, making her an inspiration to her fellow club members; and
WHEREAS, A true leader and exceptional public speaker, Haley Zurawel
has presented at the County Fair and gives back by assisting other club
members in preparation for participation in public speaking; she has
held officer positions, and is currently supporting the formation of a
Cloverbud Club as its Junior Leader; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, she has been an emcee for the 4-H Fashion Show
and teaches rabbit showmanship at the 4-H Club level; and
WHEREAS, Haley Zurawel exemplifies the best potential which is inher-
ent in our most precious resource, our youth; she has brought enduring
honor to her family and her community through her many achievements;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Haley Zurawel upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Outstanding 4-H Member Award, and to extend to her the best wishes
of this Legislative Body for a future of purposeful success and well-be-
ing; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Haley Zurawel.
