LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Hanna Nichols upon the occasion of
being elected Key Club Governor of the New York District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Hanna
Nichols upon the occasion of being elected Key Club Governor of the New
York District at its 67th Annual Leadership Conference held on March
27-29, 2015, at the Desmond Hotel in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Key Club is an international student-led organization which
provides high school students with an opportunity to build character and
perform acts of service in their communities; its members also learn
leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding
elected leadership positions at the club, district and international
levels; and
WHEREAS, Hanna Nichols, a junior at Shaker High School, has been a
member of her school's Key Club since her freshman year, and has held
the positions of Vice-President and Lieutenant Governor; and
WHEREAS, In her position as District Governor, Hanna Nichols will
oversee 230 Key Clubs throughout New York State; in addition, she will
be responsible for the administering the overall operations of the
district board, and will be holding important board meetings across the
State; and
WHEREAS, Hanna Nichols, is passionately committed to ably carrying out
her leadership responsibilities and plans to attend college and major in
Public Affairs; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous honors for her outstanding service,
Hanna Nichols has received the Outstanding Lieutenant Governor Award for
her work with District 16, and a Distinguished Key Clubber Award; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers, coaches and
parents; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the important human values of community, caring
and serving can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Hanna Nichols has displayed through-
out her career; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
women of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Hanna Nichols upon the occasion of being elected Key Club
Governor of the New York District, and to wish her continued success in
all her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Hanna Nichols.
