LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Ristorante
Lombardo in Buffalo, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 40th Anniversary of Ristorante Lombardo in Buffalo, New York;
and
WHEREAS, In the spring of 1975, Thomas J. Lombardo Sr. and Thomas
Lombardo Jr. purchased a former pizza factory, and opened the doors of a
new restaurant then known simply as Lombardo's; and
WHEREAS, Using Mother Rose's outstanding recipes, and Thomas J.
Lombardo Sr.'s expertise behind the bar, Lombardo's quickly became
established as the place for such great Italian-American fare as hand-
made manicotti, spaghetti with meatballs, and steak and dandelion sand-
wiches; and
WHEREAS, As this remarkable restaurant grew and expanded, Thomas J.
Lombardo Jr. followed his vision of creating a fine dining destination;
he conducted an extensive remodeling, and later added one of Buffalo's
most beautiful and secluded patios; and
WHEREAS, In the 1990s, Thomas J. Lombardo Jr. and his wife, Donna,
began what would become a lifetime of regular trips to Italy, finding
inspiration that has spurred the evolution of Ristorante Lombardo into
the fine neighborhood restaurant it is today; and
WHEREAS, In 2012, Tom Jr.'s youngest son, Thomas D., returned home to
his family's restaurant after a decade of working in New York City to
serve as Beverage Director and General Manager; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Ristorante Lombardo, its owners and
staff have been very active in the Western New York community working
with various charities and organizations to strengthen the region and
the communities with such events as Dining Out for Life and Hospice's 'A
Dinner to Remember'; and
WHEREAS, Today, Ristorante Lombardo is constantly evolving as it
strives to provide the best possible dining expertise for its guests
while remaining authentic in its cuisine and true to its long tradition
of excellence; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Ristorante Lombar-
do; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced over the past four decades; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Ristorante Lombardo in Buffalo, New
York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ristorante Lombardo.
