LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Calvary Cathedral of
Praise/Calvary Pentecostal Church upon the occasion of hosting its Annu-
al Cultural Day Celebration on August 1, 2015
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in commending the
Calvary Cathedral of Praise/Calvary Pentecostal Church upon the occasion
of hosting its Annual Cultural Day Celebration on Saturday, August 1,
2015, in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, A celebration of many different heritages from around the
world, Cultural Day will be filled with live entertainment, music,
dance, arts and crafts, and a diverse selection of cuisines from various
countries; and
WHEREAS, There will also be many activities for children to enjoy,
including face painting, games, toys, and bouncy rides; in addition,
children will be provided with back to school items; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1970, the Calvary Cathedral of Praise/Calvary
Pentecostal Church humbly began with one Sunday morning worship, a
Sunday evening evangelistic service, Bible study on Wednesday night, and
both prayer and deliverance on Friday night; and
WHEREAS, In 1988, the Calvary Cathedral of Praise/Calvary Pentecostal
Church added a second morning worship to accommodate the growing member-
ship, and in 1993, the membership had grown to such an extent that it
became necessary to add a third worship service on Sunday; and
WHEREAS, Today, under the luminous leadership of The Reverend Doctor
Marcus Roberts, the congregation of the Calvary Cathedral of
Praise/Calvary Pentecostal Church has grown to 2,200 members; and
WHEREAS, The Calvary Cathedral of Praise/Calvary Pentecostal Church
continues to provide a place for worship, promote Christian education
and fellowship, and preach the gospel by word and deed to the local
community and across the globe; and
WHEREAS, The Calvary Cathedral of Praise/Calvary Pentecostal Church
stands on the threshold of tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of
the coming decades while retaining that spiritual resolve which charac-
terizes its past; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Calvary Cathedral of Praise/Calvary Pentecostal Church upon
the occasion of hosting its Annual Cultural Day Celebration on August 1,
2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Reverend Doctor Marcus Roberts, Calvary Cathedral of
Praise/Calvary Pentecostal Church.
