LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Khari Edwards, Vice President of
External Affairs for Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Local Development Corporation of East New York on June 4, 2015

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Khari Edwards, Vice President of External Affairs for Brookdale Univer-
sity Hospital and Medical Center upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition by the Local Development Corporation of East New
York, celebrated at its 35th Annual Awards Dinner, on Thursday, June 4,
2015, at The Liberty Warehouse, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Khari Edwards, Vice President of External Affairs for Brook-
dale University Hospital and Medical Center is being recognized with
this esteemed honor for her outstanding effort to help reduce poverty
and promote prosperity in East New York; and
WHEREAS, The Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center is
committed to being the focus of a healthy community, stressing the
organization's values of caring and respect for everyone; and
WHEREAS, The Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center strives
to provide quality, cost effective healthcare, assess the healthcare
needs of its community, provide an integrated healthcare system to its
community, and promotes and facilitates preventive care, as well as
fosters education and research; and
WHEREAS, Founded 35 years ago, the Local Development Corporation of
East New York (LDCENY) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to
making East Brooklyn a better place to live and work; and
WHEREAS, LDCENY empowers low-to-moderate income women and minorities
with programs which promote economic sufficiency, build assets and
improve their lives and those of their families; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization works with local businesses to retain
and build industry and commerce, create jobs and improve economic oppor-
tunities for local residents and neighborhood enterprises; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Executive Director, Sherry
Roberts, LDCENY offers its clients numerous services and programs,
including Starting a Business, Grow Your Business, Money Management,
Mentoring Program, Workshops and Seminars, Small Business Financing, and
Professional Development, as well as a Women's Business Center; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those organiza-
tions which enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and
have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have
earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Khari Edwards, Vice President of External Affairs for Brookdale
University Hospital and Medical Center upon the occasion of her desig-
nation for special recognition by the Local Development Corporation of
East New York on June 4, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted Khari Edwards, Vice President of External Affairs, Brookdale
University Hospital and Medical Center.
