LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Shane McBride upon the occasion of
capturing the New York State Knights of Columbus Free Throw Shooting
Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Shane
McBride upon the occasion of capturing the New York State Knights of
Columbus Free Throw Shooting Championship in West Point, New York; and
WHEREAS, Shane McBride, a star player for the Holy Family CYO Basket-
ball Team, was victorious over five rounds of competition against
hundreds of competitors statewide to win the Knights of Columbus Free
Throw Shooting Championship; and
WHEREAS, During the semi-final and final rounds, Shane McBride shot an
outstanding 88 percent of his free throws to clinch the championship;
and
WHEREAS, Shane McBride's overall performance is outstanding; he was
loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans, friends and the
community at large; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
young athlete now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplish-
ments and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and
appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by his coaches and
parents; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Shane McBride has clearly made a contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Shane McBride upon the occasion of capturing the New York
State Knights of Columbus Free Throw Shooting Championship; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Shane McBride.
