LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the TIMES UNION's Top 10 Nurses
for their dedication to nursing excellence in the Capital Region
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those nurses from this great Empire State who have distin-
guished themselves through professional excellence and have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life of its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the TIMES UNION's Top 10 Nurses for their dedication to nursing
excellence in the Capital Region; this Salute To Nurses event is also
sponsored by St. Peter's Health Partners and Excelsior College; and
WHEREAS, St. Peter's Health Partners foster an environment where nurs-
es are supported and encouraged to take part in improving how health
care is practiced and delivered; and
WHEREAS, As a leader in quality online nursing education, Excelsior
College offers associate, RN to BS, RN to MS, master's, and certificate
nursing programs for nurses who need balance as they continue to work;
and
WHEREAS, With the concentration of hospitals, health care facilities
and educational institutions in the area, the nursing profession is an
important part of the Capital Region; and
WHEREAS, The TIMES UNION's Top 10 Nurses include: Daniel Forget,
Parish Nurse, Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church; Andrea Graffeo, Albany
Medical Center, Obstetrics; Ann Lanoue, School Nurse, Algonquin Middle
School, Averill Park; Christine Martin, Samaritan Hospital, CNS, Ed.;
Gay-Star McFarland, Registered Nurse Case Manager, SPHP Eddy Senior
Care; Gary Miller, RN, Ellis Medical Center of Clifton Park (Emergent
Care); Maura Russo, Saratoga Hospital, Medical/Surgical; Laura Stebbins,
Glens Falls Hospital, Emergency Preparedness; Lisa VanWormer, St.
Peter's Hospital, Cancer Care Center/Outpatient Infusion; and Kathleen
Malizia, Community Nurse, Hometown Health; and
WHEREAS, Built upon the proud tradition of caring, the profession of
nursing is dedicated to implementing the best practices to deliver the
highest quality of care to those we serve; and
WHEREAS, These exceptional individuals, leaders in their profession,
make a difference in the lives of every one of their patients, as well
as the patients' family members, they serve each and every day; they
have truly proven themselves to be great assets to the health and
welfare of the citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which these remarkable nurses have displayed
throughout their careers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the TIMES UNION's Top 10 Nurses for their dedication to
nursing excellence in the Capital Region; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned TIMES UNION's Top 10 Nurses.
