LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 38th Anniversary of Freedom
Baptist Church of Auburn, New York
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in commemorating the
38th Anniversary of Freedom Baptist Church of Auburn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1977, Freedom Baptist Church was founded
through the First Bible Baptist Church of Greece, New York, as religious
community dedicated to fellowship, and spiritual growth; and
WHEREAS, Many of Freedom Baptist Church's members have been present
since its founding; and
WHEREAS, During its illustrious history, this esteemed religious
congregation has been led by four inspirational pastors, including
founding Pastor Charles Perkins, Pastor Samuel Gipp, Pastor William
Gent, and current Pastor, David Dunbar who has faithfully served the
church community since 1991; and
WHEREAS, Today, Freedom Baptist Church offers a wide variety of
services for its congregation including Sunday School for all ages,
Junior Church, Master Clubs for Children, and a Teen Program, as well as
Nursing Home and Video ministries; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Freedom Baptist Church regularly supports 22
missionaries across the world in such places as Africa, Germany, Canada,
Belarus, Ireland, Brazil, Romania, Poland, and the Philippines; and
WHEREAS, Active in promoting moral values, the members of Freedom
Baptist Church are concerned with issues of society and government, and
regularly meet with political leaders on issues of concern; and
WHEREAS, As Freedom Baptist Church has grown and expanded throughout
the past 38 years, it seeks to continue to spread its spiritual message
to the community; and
WHEREAS, Under the illustrious guidance of Pastor David Dunbar, Free-
dom Baptist Church stands on the threshold of tomorrow, prepared to meet
the challenges of the coming decades while retaining that spiritual
resolve which characterizes its past; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 38th Anniversary of Freedom Baptist Church of Auburn,
New York, fully confident that this commemoration reflects the belief in
those values which enhance the dignity and purpose of life; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Pastor David Dunbar, Freedom Baptist Church.
