LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Maureen Chisholm, first
woman Police Chief in Monroe County, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its grateful
appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of coura-
geous individuals who dedicated their purposeful lives and careers to
serve and protect; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Chisholm of Monroe County, New York, died on January
17, 2015, at the age of 58; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Pittsford, New York, Maureen Chisholm attended Our
Lady of Mercy High School, as well as Monroe Community College; and
WHEREAS, In 2008, Maureen Chisholm was sworn-in as Chief of Police in
Fairport, New York, at the age of 52, making her the first woman to hold
the esteemed position of Police Chief in Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, Police Chief Maureen Chisholm spent 27 years serving the
Monroe County Sheriff's office before retiring as a Major of Staff
Services in 2003; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Chisholm distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Chisholm's commitment to excellence, and her spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Chisholm is survived by her husband, Gene, and their
two children, Emily and Daniel, all of whom felt privileged to have been
a part of her life and rejoiced in all her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Chisholm lived her life with great dignity and genu-
ine grace, always demonstrating a deep and continuing concern for the
welfare of others in the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Maureen Chisholm leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Maureen Chisholm, first woman Police Chief in Monroe
County, distinguished citizen and devoted member of her community, and
to express its sincerest condolences to the Chisholm family; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Maureen Chisholm.
