LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Adrianna Nicolia upon the occasion of
her first place finish in the Scaled category for teens in the Northeast
Region at the 2015 CrossFit Open

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
athletic competition, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Adrianna Nicolia upon the occasion of her first place finish in the
Scaled category for teens in the Northeast Region at the 2015 CrossFit
Open; and
WHEREAS, A young woman of singular distinction, Adrianna Nicolia has
distinguished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, estab-
lishing a high standard of athletic excellence and purposefulness of
life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Despite tough competition, 16-year-old Adrianna Nicolia was
presented with a first place trophy in the Scaled category for teens in
the Northeast Region at the CrossFit Sanctuary in New Hyde Park, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception in August of 2012, CrossFit Sanctuary has
quickly grown into one of the leading locations in the tri-state area,
and is committed to creating happy, healthy and strong athletes of every
age and fitness level; and
WHEREAS, The teen division, open to athletes ages 14 to 17, attracted
registrants in both the Prescription and Scaled categories; Adrianna
Nicolia competed against athletes in the Scaled category and in addition
to her Regional win, placed fifth overall worldwide; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Adrianna Nicolia; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Adrianna Nicolia, a
young woman and able scholar, recognizing the value of her labors and
the promise of her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Adrianna Nicolia upon the occasion of her first place finish in
the Scaled category for teens in the Northeast Region at the 2015 Cross-
Fit Open; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Adrianna Nicolia.
