LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sara Niccoli upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2015 Community Ally Award by the Capital
District Area Labor Federation on June 18, 2015

WHEREAS, Labor unions, through the integrity and dedication of their
leadership, have assumed an essential and integral role in ensuring the
welfare, safety and economic stability of the workers of this State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the efforts of those individuals who distinguish themselves in
service to the cause of working men and women in the State of New York;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sara
Niccoli upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2015
Community Ally Award by the Capital District Area Labor Federation, to
be celebrated at its 10th Annual Appreciation Gala on Thursday, June 18,
2015, at The Desmond Hotel & Conference Center, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Sara Niccoli earned her bachelor's degree from the State
University of New York at Albany, and received her Master of Public
Administration from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New
York University; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to advocating for poor and working people, Sara
Niccoli has held the position of fundraising and management consultant
with numerous national social justice groups, including Families United
for Racial and Economic Equality, CAAAV Organizing Asian Communities,
the Pratt Center for Community Development, the Center for Third World
Organizing, and Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation; and
WHEREAS, Sara Niccoli served as Director of Development and Communi-
cations at the Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment
Services; in this capacity, she was responsible for securing the agen-
cy's significant budget; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Sara Niccoli held the title of Assistant Director
of Development at the Fifth Avenue Committee, Inc., a community-based
social service and advocacy organization in South Brooklyn, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Today, Sara Niccoli holds the esteemed position of Executive
Director of the Labor-Religion Coalition of New York State, building a
united movement for living wages, fair share taxation, and strong public
sector services, such as quality education; and
WHEREAS, Under her luminous leadership, the Labor-Religion Coalition
recently played a key role in organizing the largest wage increase in
New York's history for tipped workers, the lowest paid employees in the
State; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Sara Niccoli happily lives on a small farm with
her husband Sean, daughter Olive, mother-in-law Pat, and a raucous band
of sheep, goats, horses, dogs, and barncats; and
WHEREAS, Fighting for social and economic justice is a way of life for
Sara Niccoli; she has rendered dedicated, faithful, conscientious and
valuable service to hard-working men and women throughout the Capital
Region, serving with loyalty, honor and distinction; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sara Niccoli upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2015 Community Ally Award by the Capital District Area Labor Feder-
ation on June 18, 2015; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sara Niccoli.
