LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Casa Visco
on June 30, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 70th Anniversary of Casa Visco to be celebrated at a dinner
held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Glen Sanders Mansion, in Scotia,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Casa Visco is a third generation, family owned pizza and
pasta sauce manufacturer located in New York State's Capital Region; and
WHEREAS, In 1945, Carmella and Joseph Viscusi, Sr. started Viscusi
Wholesale Grocers, Inc., a small wholesale grocery business which
specialized in selling Italian food products to restaurants and grocery
stores; and
WHEREAS, At the request of their customers, Carmella and Joseph start-
ed to bottle and sell Carmella's famous homemade spaghetti sauce under
the name Casa Visco, working out of their home basement; and
WHEREAS, Over the past 70 years, Casa Visco has grown substantially
from its humble beginnings; it now operates a state-of-the-art automated
facility, and its products are distributed across numerous states as
well as internationally; and
WHEREAS, Today, Casa Visco continues its commitment to the highest
standards of quality; a family member is still present to oversee each
batch of sauces the company manufactures; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Casa Visco's
emphasis on using the highest quality ingredients and homemade goodness
has led to it being ranked the No. 1 DSD Brand Pizza sauce in all of New
England; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Casa Visco; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Casa Visco on June 30, 2015; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Viscusi Family.
