LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dana Moffat and Jessika Coleman, 2x
members of the Fayetteville-Manlius High School Rowing Team, upon the
occasion of capturing First Place at the United States Rowing Youth
National Championship

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
outstanding student athletes within our midst, who strive to be cham-
pions through rigorous training, discipline and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people in the State of New York, preparing them for
the future by instilling in them the value of hard work, healthy living
and good sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dana
Moffat and Jessika Coleman, 2x members of the Fayetteville-Manlius High
School Rowing Team, upon the occasion of capturing First Place at the
United States Rowing Youth National Championship, which took place June
12-14, 2015, in Sarasota, Florida; and
WHEREAS, Dana Moffat and Jessika Coleman were the first public high
school team represented in the finals of the women's 2x event, and their
appearance marked the first time in the 11-year history of the Fayette-
ville-Manlius program that a rowing boat had been invited to the regat-
ta; and
WHEREAS, Dana Moffat and Jessika Coleman, seniors at Fayetteville-Man-
lius High School, raced four times over the weekend-long national cham-
pionship tournament, in order to beat out a variety of teams and claim
victory; and
WHEREAS, To earn a bid to compete at the United States Rowing Youth
National Championship, Dana Moffat and Jessika Coleman won gold at the
New York State Scholastic Championship on May 10-11, 2015, in Saratoga
Springs; they also placed in the grand finals at the Scholastic Rowing
Association of America's National Championship Regatta, held May 22-23,
2015, in New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Coach David Cusano, a skilled and inspirational
tutor, respected for his ability to develop potential into excellence;
and
WHEREAS, The United States Rowing Youth National Championship is the
most prestigious junior rowing competition in the country, proving that
the outstanding talent displayed by Dana Moffat and Jessika Coleman is
second to none; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dana Moffat and Jessika Coleman, 2x members of the Fayetteville-
Manlius High School Rowing Team, upon the occasion of capturing First
Place at the United States Rowing Youth National Championship; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dana Moffat, Jessika Coleman, and Coach David Cusano.
