LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of RECAP, Inc.
to be celebrated October 15, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of RECAP, Inc. to be celebrated on Thursday,
October 15, 2015, at West Hills Country Club, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Regional Economic Community Action Program, Inc. (RECAP)
was founded in 1965 as one of the original community action agencies; it
is a registered not-for-profit, anti-poverty, private organization,
committed to helping the residents of Orange County, New York, meet
their most basic and fundamental needs; and
WHEREAS, The mission of RECAP is to mobilize and coordinate public and
private resources to address the basic needs of low-income people while
they attain the skills, knowledge, motivation and opportunities needed
to become economically self-sufficient; and
WHEREAS, Working in conjunction with federal, state and community
agencies, both public and private, RECAP takes a proactive stance in
combating the symptoms of poverty by mobilizing, coordinating, and
administering much-needed funds and services to local area residents;
with multiple offices throughout Orange County, this effective organiza-
tion has, over the last 50 years, ably assisted countless clients to
change their life circumstances and gain economic independence; and
WHEREAS, In addition, RECAP has grown into a multi-service and housing
agency which is the principal provider of services and low-income hous-
ing in Orange County; and
WHEREAS, RECAP is a community leader; its community action changes
people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and
makes America a better place to live; it cares about the entire communi-
ty, and is dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other;
and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to RECAP, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of RECAP, Inc. to be celebrated October
15, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to RECAP, Inc.
