LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Martin Donnelly upon the occasion of
his retirement after 18 years of distinguished service to the Town of
Andes

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Martin Donnelly upon the occasion of his retirement after 18 years of
distinguished service to the Town of Andes; and
WHEREAS, Martin Donnelly and his wife, Yvonne, raised and nurtured
their children on Long Island, where he owned and operated Martin
Donnelly Insurance Services; in addition, he was a vital member of the
fire department; and
WHEREAS, After the children graduated from high school, Martin and
Yvonne Donnelly moved to Andes, New York, to help with his mother; it
was not long before he became involved with local politics; and
WHEREAS, Almost two decades ago, Martin Donnelly was elected to the
esteemed position of supervisor of the Town of Andes; he will fondly be
remembered for his dedication to the town in which he both lived and
worked; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Martin Donnelly was a great supporter
of projects which would greatly benefit the town; he always had his eyes
and ears open to things that were good for his community; and
WHEREAS, Along with his role as town supervisor, Martin Donnelly was
an enthusiastic member of the board of directors of O'Connor Hospital
and the Catskill Watershed Corporation; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious career, Martin Donnelly served the
Town of Andes, New York, with intelligence and caring dedication,
continuously striving to effectively fulfill the duties of his position;
and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with whom
he worked, Martin Donnelly will be remembered for his honesty, integri-
ty, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of human prob-
lems in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, After he retires, Martin Donnelly looks forward to spending
more time with his family and enjoying his hobbies, such as history and
stamp collecting; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 58 years, Yvonne,
five loving children, Martin III, Michael, Steven, Margaret, and Ellen,
and nine treasured grandchildren, Kelly, Sean, Timothy, Kaitlyn, Kelsey,
Allison, Jack, Kristin, and Megan, as well as two great-grandchildren,
all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Martin Donnelly upon the occasion of his retirement after 18
years of distinguished service to the Town of Andes, and to wish him
continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Martin Donnelly.
