LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 95th Anniversary of the John G.
Borden Middle School, Wallkill, New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in the education of the youth of this noble Empire
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 95th Anniversary of the John G. Borden Middle School; and
WHEREAS, An integral part of the community since 1921, this esteemed
educational institution was once the Wallkill Central School District's
High School; an historical building, it is still etched with "boys " and
"girls" signs over separate entrances; and
WHEREAS, The John G. Borden Middle School encompasses three floors and
two gyms with two large wings added since its original construction, one
in 1941, the other in 1976; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable institution has greatly developed over the
years, and has recently been guided by outstanding leadership from Prin-
cipal Marjorie Anderson, and Dean Craig Ramsay, along with many profes-
sional staff, noteworthy scholars and teachers, and a loyal and effec-
tive team of support staff; and
WHEREAS, The 47 member faculty and nine staff members at the John G.
Borden Middle School together educate nearly 600 seventh and eighth
graders, while striving to create an atmosphere of community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the past 95 years, the John G. Borden Middle
School has truly lived up to its mission of educating, inspiring and
graduating students who excel in both academics and character; indeed,
it has empowered graduates to reach their maximum potential as leaders
and productive members of society; and
WHEREAS, The rededication of the John G. Borden Middle School in 2003
symbolized the community's pride and dedication to continue the enduring
tradition of educational excellence and preparation of students to meet
the academic and technological challenges of the future; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is very pleased to have this opportu-
nity to salute the John G. Borden Middle School for its long history of
purposeful endeavor which has greatly benefited the community of Wall-
kill, New York, and to wish this worthy educational institution contin-
ued success; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 95th Anniversary of the John G. Borden Middle School;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Principal Marjorie Anderson, and Dean Craig Ramsay, John G.
Borden Middle School.
