LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jenny Ly upon the occasion of her desig-
nation as recipient of the 2015 Scholarship Award by the Major General
Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jenny Ly upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2015
Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of
Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 17th Annual
Tuition Assistance Awards Celebration on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at
Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, A first generation Vietnamese American, Jenny Ly is a senior
at Newburgh Free Academy where she is a member of the Gilbert Shaw
Science Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society and the National Honor
Society; and
WHEREAS, A catalyst for change among her classmates, displaying both a
strong work ethic and caring nature, Jenny Ly has accrued more than 400
hours of community service as a volunteer for various causes; and
WHEREAS, Jenny Ly is the Treasurer of the Interact Club, a junior
division of Rotary International, and also studies tap and jazz dancing;
she plans to attend the University of Buffalo and study Pharmacological
Sciences, and then to pursue her master's and possibly doctorate degree
with the aim of becoming a highly skilled pharmacist; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Jenny Ly has displayed
exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community responsi-
bility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled; and
WHEREAS, Jenny Ly, in achieving this academic honor, may take just
pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence
she brings to her family, friends, community and school; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jenny Ly upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2015 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter
of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend to her best wishes for a future
of purposeful success and wellbeing; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jenny Ly.
