LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Thomas K. Conerty, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Kevin Conerty, of Bolton Landing, New York, died on
Thursday, December 24, 2015, at the age of 71; and
WHEREAS, Born on April 4, 1944, in Troy, New York, Thomas K. Conerty
was the son of the late Richard Kevin and Malvina Emma (MacDuff) Coner-
ty; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Bolton Landing, Thomas K. Conerty
graduated from Bolton Central School in 1962, and earned his bachelor's
degree from St. Michael's College in 1966; and
WHEREAS, Thomas K. Conerty married Kathleen (Moore) Conerty of Water-
town, New York, on June 11, 1966, and together, they were the proud
parents of two daughters and the loving grandparents of four grandchil-
dren; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious career at Bolton Central School,
Thomas K. Conerty taught biology, chemistry and physics; he also served
as the Boys Junior Varsity Basketball coach; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his college and teaching years, Thomas K. Conerty
was employed in the summer months at the Lake George Steamboat Company;
he began serving as a deck hand for a few years, and eventually earned
his apprentice license and master's license; and
WHEREAS, In 1980, Thomas K. Conerty left teaching to join the Lake
George Steamboat Company as a full-time employee; he served as a pilot
and Captain mainly aboard the MV Mohican, and MV Ticonderoga, until the
construction of the MV Lac du Saint Sacrament in 1989; and
WHEREAS, As Captain of the MV Lac du Saint Sacrament, Thomas K. Coner-
ty was respected for his generous and professional nature, as well as
for his masterful handling of the 1,350-horsepower ship; and
WHEREAS, Thomas K. Conerty's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; he served as a fireman with the Bolton
Volunteer Fire Department, and was its Secretary for many years; and
WHEREAS, With a sense of civic responsibility, Thomas K. Conerty held
the positions of Town Board member and Deputy Supervisor of the Town of
Bolton; he was also a vital part of numerous local boards and committees
including the Bolton Free Library Board, the Bolton Planning Board,
Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Bolton Stormwater Committee; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Thomas K. Conerty was a member of the Lake George
Park Commission, and served as its Vice Chairman from 2005 to 2014; he
also contributed his time to the LGPC Surface Recreation Committee, and
was Chairman of the LGPC Law Enforcement Committee; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents, and brothers-in-law, Harry and
Fred, Thomas K. Conerty is survived by his wife, Kathleen; their two
daughters Sarah (Thomas) and Rebecca (Victor); four grandchildren, Sean,
Samantha, Nathan and Daniel; one sister, Karen; two nephews, John (Lisa)
and Joseph (Jessica); his mother-in-law Beverly; his sisters-in-law,
Dawn, Monica (Michael), Billie, Sally (Tony), Linda, BJ (Lee), Kelly and
Debe; and brother-in-law, William (Laura); as well as several other
nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Thomas K. Conerty leaves
behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will

remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Thomas K. Conerty, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Thomas K. Conerty.
