LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Snow Ridge
Ski Resort in Turin, New York, on January 23, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality of
life of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly enriched by the
availability of exceptional recreational facilities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 70th Anniversary of Snow Ridge Ski Resort, to be celebrated
with a myriad of events on January 23, 2016; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion will be feted with numerous family
events during the day including family ski races, cardboard/duct tape
races for the kids, and face painting, as well as music supplied by a
Dee Jay; evening activities will begin with a social hour, followed by a
torchlight parade and then dinner; and
WHEREAS, Owned and managed by Cyndy Sisto and Nick Mir, Snow Ridge Ski
Resort is a small ski area located in Turin, New York, in the nearby Tug
Hill region; the ski area's loyal fans come for the inexpensive tickets,
night skiing, and the exceptional kids' programs; they stay for the
fluffy, powdery snow; and
WHEREAS, With an average of 230 inches of snowfall annually, and
record of 374 inches in one year, it has become known for having one of
the heaviest snowfalls in the East; and
WHEREAS, Called the best kept secret in the East, Snow Ridge Ski
Resort generally operates from mid-November to early April, and has an
elevation of 2,000 feet with a vertical drop of 500 feet, and about 130
acres of skiable area which features 22 trails; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Snow Ridge Ski Resort encompasses a little chal-
et-style lodge and restaurant, and a little rental shop with the basics;
future plans consist of turning the facility into a four-season resort;
and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the success of the Snow Ridge Ski Resort and recognizes its
contributions to the local and State economies, fully confident that it
will continue to enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus
far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Snow Ridge Ski Resort in Turin, New
York, on January 23, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cyndy Sisto and Nick Mir, co-owners, Snow Ridge Ski Resort.
