LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Larry Ledgerwood upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award by
the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce on January 22, 2016
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Larry Ledgerwood has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Larry Ledger-
wood upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2015 Life-
time Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, to be
celebrated at its Annual Dinner Meeting on Friday, January 22, 2016, at
Waterloo/Seneca Falls Holiday Inn, Waterloo, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born in Penn Yan, New York, on March 3, 1948, to Lloyd and
Doris Ledgerwood, Larry Ledgerwood graduated from Penn Yan High School;
he earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Cornell University,
Ithaca, New York; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Larry Ledgerwood is a New York State Licensed
General Appraiser; and
WHEREAS, Larry Ledgerwood proudly served his country as a member of
the Unites States Marines; he trained in its Vietnamese Language School
before serving a Tour of Duty in Vietnam from 1969-1970; and
WHEREAS, Larry Ledgerwood was employed with both the National Bank of
Geneva and the Farm Credit System before holding the position of Branch
Manager of the Waterloo Branch of Community Bank, NA, a position from
which he recently retired; and
WHEREAS, Under Larry Ledgerwood's luminous management, the Waterloo
Branch of Community Bank, NA, has twice received Branch of the Year
designation; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his illustrious banking career, Larry Ledger-
wood has been a part-time farmer since 2011; he wrote an article
"Financing the On-Farm Winery" for EASTERN GRAPE GROWER MAGAZINE which
highlighted his interest and involvement with the first small farm
wineries in Seneca County; and
WHEREAS, One year later, he led a workshop presentation on "Winery
Financing" at the Wineries Unlimited Conference, Lancaster, Pennsylva-
nia; and
WHEREAS, Furthering his interest in viticulture, Larry Ledgerwood
enjoyed traveling to Napa Valley, California, to study winery financing
and appraisal; and
WHEREAS, Larry Ledgerwood has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of his community, Larry Ledger-
wood has held the position of Treasurer of the Waterloo Business and
Professional Association and has served as Chair of the Seneca Economic
and Development Committee; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Larry Ledgerwood has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Larry Ledgerwood has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Larry Ledgerwood upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of
Commerce on January 22, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Larry Ledgerwood.
