LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc. upon the
occasion of celebrating its 120th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize those
small businesses within the State of New York which contribute to the
economic health and vitality of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc. upon the occasion of celebrating its 120th
Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc. was founded in 1896, by Sherman
Ramsay in Kauneonga Lake, New York; he and his son, S. Spencer Ramsay,
also a licensed funeral director, expanded the business by opening a
second funeral home in Liberty, New York, in 1922; and
WHEREAS, In 1926, S. Spencer Ramsay and his wife, Nina Ramsay, also a
licensed funeral director, moved the business to its present location in
a lovely Victorian home in Liberty, New York; and
WHEREAS, After the Ramsays retired, Thomas E. Warren purchased the
business in 1970; seven years later, he added a funeral home in Monti-
cello, New York; and
WHEREAS, A successful business, Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc. has
gained the respect, confidence and loyalty of the community, embracing
its reputation as a premiere funeral home committed to serving all fami-
lies in Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses such as Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc. exert a
strong, positive influence on the communities they serve and are a
crucial element in the economy of New York State; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those busi-
nesses which enhance the quality of life in their community and have
shown a long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high stand-
ards in its profession, certainly have earned the recognition and
applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc. upon the occasion of celebrating
its 120th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Thomas E. Warren, Owner, Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc.
