LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Jaiquawn Jarrett upon the occasion
of his induction into the 2016 Fort Hamilton High School Alumni Associ-
ation Hall of Fame on February 13, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Jaiquawn Jarrett upon the occasion of his induction into the 2016 Fort
Hamilton High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame, to be celebrated
at its Dinner Dance on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Rex Manor, Brook-
lyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 2007, Jaiquawn Jarrett graduated from Fort Hamilton High
School, Brooklyn, New York; after graduation, he played football at
Temple University; and
WHEREAS, An exceptional athlete, Jaiquawn Jarrett was selected by the
Philadelphia Eagles in the second round (54th overall) of the 2011
National Football League (NFL) Draft; on July 27, 2011, he was signed to
a four-year contract; and
WHEREAS, After leaving the Philadelphia Eagles, Jaiquawn Jarrett
signed a future/reserve contract with the New York Jets on December 31,
2012; he entered the 2013 preseason competing with Antonio Allen for the
starting free safety job; and
WHEREAS, Jaiquawn Jarrett had his breakout performance against the
Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014, earning 2 interceptions, 10 tackles, a
sack, and a fumble recovery; and
WHEREAS, On April 24, 2015, Jaiquawn Jarrett signed a one-year,
restricted free agent tender to stay with the Jets; and
WHEREAS, Athletes such as Jaiquawn Jarrett provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and
WHEREAS, Jaiquawn Jarrett has clearly been an inspiration to the youth
of Fort Hamilton High School, as well as to the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive dedi-
cation to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jaiquawn Jarrett upon the occasion of his induction into
the 2016 Fort Hamilton High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame on
February 13, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jaiquawn Jarrett.
