LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Carley Antonelli upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2015 Joy of Effort Award by the New
York State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and
Dance
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the efforts
of those individuals in the teaching profession who distinguish them-
selves in their dedication and commitment to their students; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Carley Antonelli upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2015 Joy of Effort Award by the New York State Association of
Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, celebrated at its
78th Annual Conference in November of 2015; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Association of Health, Physical Education,
Recreation, and Dance is a statewide organization whose membership
consists of K-16 professionals and future professionals; and
WHEREAS, Carley Antonelli earned her Bachelor's degree from the State
University of New York at Brockport; while a student, she was nominated
for the prestigious Jay B. Nash Scholarship; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Ransomville, New York, Carley Antonelli
furthered her education by obtaining her Master's degree from Canisius
College; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Carley Antonelli is a well-loved and respected
physical education, health education and family and consumer science
teacher in the Grand Island Central School District; in this capacity,
she models and represents healthy lifestyle choices, has a positive
outlook and has a relentless commitment to improving the quality of life
for her students; and
WHEREAS, Carley Antonelli is also the recipient of the 2015 Western
Zones "Let's Move" Grant and NFL Fuel Up to Play 60 Grant; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to her school and its students, Carley Antonelli is
the Play 60 adviser, and a member of both the Positive Behavior Inter-
vention Services committee and the School Safety Team; and
WHEREAS, For many years, Carley Antonelli has been actively involved
in NYS AHPERD, and is a past member of the Executive Council serving as
Future Professional Section president, where she presented and presided
at local and state conferences; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her role as a teacher, Carley Antonelli coach-
es the Grand Island High School girls tennis and softball programs; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Carley Antonelli has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career thus far, Carley Antonelli has brought
an uncompromising standard of excellence to her work and a warm sense of
caring and concern to every young person she educates; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Carley Antonelli upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2015 Joy of Effort Award by the New York State Association of
Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Carley Antonelli.
