LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 40th Anniversary of St.
Lawrence County Snowmobile Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 40th Anniversary of the St. Lawrence County Snowmobile Associ-
ation; and
WHEREAS, Over four decades ago, a small group of citizens became the
St. Lawrence County Snowmobile Association, a not for profit organiza-
tion which relies on the dedication of volunteers who are willing to
give countless hours to the winter sport of snowmobiling; and
WHEREAS, With a network of over five hundred miles of publicly acces-
sible trails through various types of terrain to accommodate riders of
every ability, the Association has brought together riders, landowners
and businesses; and
WHEREAS, Thanks to the efforts of the St. Lawrence County Snowmobile
Association, many rural communities now enjoy a year-round economy, with
tourists from across North America traveling to St. Lawrence County to
enjoy the sport of snowmobiling, making the area a tourist destination
and enriching the lives of hardworking New York families by generating
jobs and business opportunities; and
WHEREAS, The tireless members of the St. Lawrence County Snowmobile
Association, through their trailblazing efforts, have provided year-
round opportunities for hikers, snowshoe enthusiasts, cross-country
skiers, nature lovers and ATV riders to enjoy the North country's unique
way of life; and
WHEREAS, This milestone presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to recognize and pay tribute to the St. Lawrence County Snowmobile
Association; and
WHEREAS, In so effectively carrying out its mission, the St. Lawrence
County Snowmobile Association voluntarily maintains and provides trails
for the enjoyment of the winter sport of snowmobiling; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the St. Lawrence County Snowmobile
Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the St. Lawrence County Snowmobile Association.
