LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Barry Miller posthumously upon the
occasion of being named the 2015 Geneseean of the Year by the Genesee
County Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, Individuals who gave of their time and energies and served the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Barry Miller gave not only of his time and energies but also
of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has been
designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Barry Miller posthumously upon the occasion of being named the 2015
Geneseean of the Year by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce to be
celebrated at an Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Batavia
Clarion Hotel, Batavia, New York; and
WHEREAS, Barry Miller was born on June 6, 1965, to Tracy and Loretta
(Werner) Miller in Batavia, New York; on Wednesday, September 23, 2015,
he tragically passed away at the age of 50; and
WHEREAS, In 1983, Barry Miller graduated from Byron-Bergen High
School, Bergen, New York; he was the owner of Miller's Millworks in
Bergen, and the Beaver River Lodge in the Adirondacks; for several
years, he also worked for the Rochester Eye and Tissue Bank; and
WHEREAS, Barry Miller had been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and always gave of
himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which he lived and worked,
Barry Miller held the title of Chief of Emergency Medical Services in
Bergen and was a member of the Bergen Fire Department for over three
decades; in addition, he started the Bergen Fire Department Explorers
Program; and
WHEREAS, Barry Miller served as the Genesee County Coroner, and was a
participant of the New York State Association of County Coroners and
Medical Examiners; and
WHEREAS, Barry Miller was a faithful member of the Bergen United Meth-
odist Church, and participated on the Bergen Town Board for several
years; and
WHEREAS, An extremely kind man, Barry Miller generously supported
battered women and enjoyed serving all of his neighbors in Bergen, New
York, and throughout Genesee County; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Barry Miller has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Barry Miller will not only be remembered as a compassionate
man, but one who enthusiastically loved to spend time outdoors; he
enjoyed flying his powered parachute, snowmobiling, boating, waterski-
ing, camping, and riding his motorcycle; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Barry Miller displayed throughout
his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Barry Miller posthumously upon the occasion of being named the
2015 Geneseean of the Year by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Barry Miller.
