LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ellis Medicine upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Advancement of Women in the WERCplace
Award from the Capital District Women's Employment and Resource Center
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the communities across New
York State is reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the
advancement of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ellis Medicine
upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the Advancement of
Women in the WERCplace Award from the Capital District Women's Employ-
ment and Resource Center which was celebrated at its Awards Luncheon on
Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Women's Employment and Resource Center (WERC) is a not-
for-profit organization which assists women in improving important self-
attributes in order to successfully rejoin the workforce; since 1988 the
Center has provided services to over 6,400 women in the Capital
District; and
WHEREAS, The Advancement of Women in the WERCplace Award is presented
to an organization in recognition of its longstanding efforts to remove
barriers which keep women from achieving financial independence and
success; and
WHEREAS, For over 130 years, Ellis Medicine has provided medical
services to the Capital District across their four campuses and five
service locations; and
WHEREAS, Today, Ellis medicine operates a 438-bed community and teach-
ing healthcare system that employs over 3,300 people and provides vari-
ous inpatient and outpatient services, including: cardiac, cancer, emer-
gency, neuroscience and women's services; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed health care organization has made it a priority
to have equality in their workplace and has worked to create an environ-
ment which helps women succeed; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Ellis Medicine offers numerous programs and
services to assist women professionally, including a comprehensive
Career Ladder Program, Tuition Assistance Program, and New Leaders
Training Program, as well as mentorship opportunities for professional
growth; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by a company
for the benefit of others which Ellis Medicine has displayed throughout
the years; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ellis Medicine upon the occasion of its designation as recipient
of the Advancement of Women in the WERCplace Award from the Capital
District Women's Employment and Resource Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ellis Medicine.
