LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Edward Dussault, Jr. upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition by the United States Postal
Service on November 6, 2015
WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this country's
freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peace-
time, deserve the recognition and appreciation of the people of the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Edward
Dussault, Jr., distinguished United States Army Veteran, upon the occa-
sion of his designation for special recognition by the United States
Postal Service on Friday, November 6, 2015, at its Veterans Day Ceremo-
ny, celebrated at the United States Postal Service General Mail Facility
in Colonie, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1965, after graduating from Schalmont/Mont Pleasant High
School, Edward Dussault, Jr. began his military service and basic train-
ing in Fort Dix, New Jersey, where he earned an expert badge for rifle
training; and
WHEREAS, Following his basic training, Edward Dussault, Jr. was
ordered to Fort Myer, Virginia, where he completed a light driving
school and advanced training on driving in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Edward Dussault, Jr. received high level security clearance
to drive for Sergeants Major of the United States Army and other high
ranking officers of the Pentagon; subsequently, he was granted a
promotion to become a member of President Lyndon B. Johnson's motorcade;
and
WHEREAS, Edward Dussault, Jr. was discharged from the United States
Army in September of 1967; for his military service, he was awarded the
National Defense Service Medal; and
WHEREAS, After his military service, Edward Dussault, Jr. began his
career with the United States Postal Service, working as a mechanic at
the Schenectady Post Office, Schenectady, New York, prior to being
transferred to the Albany Vehicle Maintenance Facility, Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Restoring historic vehicles has been Edward Dussault, Jr.'s
longtime hobby; he restored a Model T Ford Snowbird which was put on
display at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, D. C.,
from 1993 through 2011; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Maudie, his three
stepchildren, and his five grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Edward Dussault, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the United States Postal Service on November 6,
2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Edward Dussault, Jr.
