LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ella Samuria upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Faith Based Service Lifetime Achievement
Award by the Capital District Senior Issues Forum

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ella Samuria
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Faith Based
Service Lifetime Achievement Award by the Capital District Senior Issues
Forum, celebrated at its 17th Annual Lifetime Achievement Awards Ceremo-
ny on Wednesday, October 7, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Capital District Senior Issues Forum is a voluntary
initiative among faith communities, organizations and individuals that
provide support for seniors in the Capital District through education
and dialogue; and
WHEREAS, Since its grass roots beginnings in 1998, the Capital
District Senior Issues Forum has focused on senior housing issues by
recruiting and joining together caregivers, faith organizations, govern-
ment officials, housing facility and service groups and administrators,
as well as seniors; and
WHEREAS, Now a full-fledged organization, the Capital District Senior
Issues Forum has held 16 ceremonies and has recognized over 676 Capital
District seniors over the age of 85 for their lifetime achievements; and
WHEREAS, Ella Samuria is recognized by the Capital District Senior
Issues Forum for being an extraordinary senior; she is making a differ-
ence in the lives of others and gives selflessly in faith based service;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ella Samuria upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Faith Based Service Lifetime Achievement Award by the Capital
District Senior Issues Forum; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ella Samuria.
