LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Colin Battersby upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2016 Scholarship Award by the Major
General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Colin Battersby upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2016 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter
of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 18th Annual
Tuition Assistance Program on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Anthony's
Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, Colin Battersby, an honored athlete and diligent student, is
a senior at Beacon High School where his academics have included numer-
ous honors, advanced placement and college-level courses; and
WHEREAS, A record-setting member of Beacon's track team for four
years, Colin Battersby also became a varsity soccer player in his junior
year; and
WHEREAS, Colin Battersby hopes to attend the United States Coast Guard
Academy to study Government as well as Psychology; with dreams to some-
day fly as a Coast Guard helicopter pilot, this extraordinary young man
is currently a member of the Trowell-Harris Chapter's Red Tail Flying
Program; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his high school career, Colin Battersby has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and
WHEREAS, Colin Battersby, in achieving this academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excel-
lence he brings to his family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Colin Battersby upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2016 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend to him best wishes for a
future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Colin Battersby.
